Annual Shredding Event

shredThe Stillwater Public Library holds one shredding event each year for community members to securely dispose of their sensitive documents.

When is the event? The event will take place on the last Saturday in February.

  • The 2024 shred event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 24, from 9-11 a.m.

How many documents can I bring? Participants may bring up to two copier-sized boxes of material. Paperclips and staples do NOT need to be removed.

Where do I take my papers? The event is held in the parking lots north of the library and in front of the Prairie Art Center. Cars drive through the lot to the truck where the material is unloaded and shredded for them. Staff and volunteers will help navigate cars through the drive-thru.

Who does the shredding? Shred-Away Shredding is the company the library uses for shredding. Shredding is done onsite at drop-off. Shred-Away uses a multiple-cutting method to ensure the safe disposal of your material.

Is there a fee? The event is free, but donations are gladly accepted to offset the cost of the event.

What should I shred? We suggest checking with your attorney or accountant for a definitive answer, but the articles below will provide assistance in identifying possible material to shred.
