Entrepreneurs get startup advice

(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / May 21, 2020) – Individuals interested in starting their own businesses are invited to an online “Starting Your Business” class, led by Brad Rickelman, assistant director of Meridian Technology’s Center for Business Development on Thursday, June 4, at 6 p.m. The course focuses on general advice for potential business owners and the importance of building the right customer base, particularly during a time of economic stress.

“Working from home or quarantining in place may have given people time to consider whether or not to start a business of their own,” Rickelman said. “It’s crucial that entrepreneurs ensure they have the market, and the capital, they’ll need to survive beyond the initial opening.”

Rickelman emphasizes that conducting market research and developing a robust business strategy are essential for potential entrepreneurs.

“In this class we’ll look beyond the basic financials,” Rickelman added. “I’ll be sharing insight into what makes a business successful and offering entrepreneurs specific advice on how to make a startup as strong as possible.”

The library is not yet open to the public, so the class will take place virtually using the video conferencing program Zoom. Please register by June 3 online at tinyurl.com/StartABizJune4, by calling the library help desk at (405) 372-3633 x8106 or via an email to askalibrarian@stillwater.org.
