Hear from local legislators at annual League of Women Voters' forum

(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / January 5, 2022) – What is on the agenda for Stillwater area legislators? Constituents will
have the  opportunity to hear from their local representatives first hand at the League of Women Voters’ annual “Meet Your Legislators” forum taking place online Thursday, Jan. 13, at 6 p.m. The Stillwater Public Library and the Friends of the Stillwater Public Library are co-sponsors of the event.

Gladeen Allred, the forum moderator from Stillwater’s League of Women Voters chapter, is pleased to continue to provide the community with an opportunity to hear from their representatives, especially during uncertain times.

“It’s so important for constituents to be able to communicate with their legislators so they can learn about important issues coming up and what their representatives hope to accomplish,” Allred said. “The public needs opportunities to ask questions and get answers.”

Representatives Trish Ranson, John Talley and Ty Burns, and Senators Tom Duggar and Chuck Hall have been invited to participate. Attendees can submit questions in advance when they register by emailing them to askalibrarian@stillwater.org or calling the Library’s Help Desk at (405) 372-3633 x8106.

This is the second year that the forum has been held online. Allred misses having face-to-face interactions with representatives but also finds that it can be easier for some to tune in virtually.

“It was always nice to have the forum in person. But, considering COVID, the online options are safer. It’s also convenient for people to communicate from the comfort of their own home,” Allred said.

Registration is required for anyone wanting to attend the forum via Zoom. Visit http://library.stillwater.org/register.php to learn more, sign-up and submit questions. The event will also be live-streamed on the Stillwater Public Library’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/StillwaterOKLib
