New website coming - tell us what you need!

Last year, the library had 278,515 visits to its website, up about 45,000 from the previous term. It is exciting to see so many people use our site. While we really want everyone to visit the library in person, we understand that people are busy, so it is important to us that we offer you as much help online as possible to meet your information needs.

The pages used most on our site aren’t surprising—the eBook landing page, event pages like those for LexiCon, summer reading, the book sale and “Killers of the Flower Moon” and the “Read” page devoted to topics like read-a-likes, new material lists and links to our reading services. Another popular page is the one for our online database services that are accessible at home such as the language learning tool Pronunciator; the full-text magazine service EBSCO; and the auto repair database from Chilton.

We hope that these online options will help you accomplish as much at 2 a.m. in the morning sitting in your PJs as you would during the day. But, we also know that we miss listing lots of things that people want and we also know that finding what you need on our page can sometimes be challenging.

In March, the library’s website will be changing its format. It will look similar to the one used by the City of Stillwater at http://stillwater.org. We are completely rebuilding our site’s content and are starting over from scratch, while still keeping our services like Overdrive and databases, of course. We want to offer a site that offers clear and easy navigation for our users to find what they need.

That is where you come in. We would love to have you complete our online survey with questions about what you want to see on the site. Have you seen something on other library and reading pages that you wish we had? Is there something on our current page that you love and want us to keep? What on our current page makes it hard for you to find what you need? We want to know!

To access the survey, visit our webpage at http://library.stillwater.org. The link for the survey is on the righthand menu and can be filled out at home or in the library. Thank you for your help!
