RoundUP Stillwater

RoundUP Stillwater is a group that provides educational and social programming for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Organizations in the group include Stillwater Public Library, Stillwater Parks, Events, and Recreation, Stillwater Group Homes, MPower, and Community Access. The group also includes adults with special needs and their parents.

While the programs we provide are reserved for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities, we are committed to making sure that each program includes interaction with a diverse group of people. OSU student volunteers work one on one with our participants at each program.

Programs are free of charge.

PROGRAMS

Programs and events have been on hold for the duration of COVID-19. Hopefully RoudUP will be able to begin meeting and planning activities for the Fall of 2022.

Past programs and events have included:

Dances and Special Events

Stillwater Parks, Events, and Recreation hosts dances and special events with refreshments, activities, and prizes throughout the year, including:

  • Halloween Dance
  • Boomer Blast Special Viewing Party
  • Summer Pool Party

Bookclub

A weekly bookclub hosted by the Stillwater Public Library at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Participants read a page at a time out loud and receive assistance on pronunciation and vocabulary. The group discussed themes on the page. Readers include individuals with a wide range of reading abilities and can include individuals who are not verbal. Readers are loaned a book and each book takes 2-3 months to get through, followed by a themed celebration once the book has been completed.

Theater Class

A weekly theater class at the Stillwater Public Library. OSU students studying theater, vocal music, and education work one on one with participants to plan, write, cast, and direct scenes.
